Our Story

Read Deeply. Live Gently.

Veriflow is more than a publication; it is a movement toward intentional living. We are a small team of writers, designers, and researchers dedicated to curating a media diet that feeds the soul rather than the feed.

The Beginning

A small zine with a big idea

Everything began in 2018 in a small, sunlit apartment in Portland. We printed our first issue by hand—just 50 copies, stapled and bound with care. It was a simple experiment: to ask ourselves what we actually wanted to read, rather than what the algorithm wanted us to see.

That tiny zine found a quiet home in the hands of a few hundred people who shared our frustration with the noise of the modern web. Their letters of encouragement convinced us to grow. We moved into a shared studio, hired our first editor, and eventually built the Veriflow you see today—a full media brand built on the same foundation: a deep belief in the power of words.

Today, we are still a small team, still hand-crafting our digital and print experiences. We haven't lost sight of our roots. We still ask the same questions we did in 2018: Is this worth reading? Is this kind? Is this true?

Manifesto

Slow Media Manifesto

We reject the premise that "more is more." In a world obsessed with speed, Veriflow chooses depth. We believe that the most valuable ideas require time to germinate, that a well-read mind is a calmer mind, and that beauty is a form of truth.

"We do not publish to be read; we publish to be felt. If an article doesn't make you pause, slow down, or see the world a little differently, we don't think it belongs here."

Our philosophy is simple: volume is not quality. We would rather publish one deeply researched piece on the psychology of boredom than ten shallow pieces on the latest trends. We are committed to slow media—a reading experience that respects your attention span and rewards your curiosity.

Editorial Standards

Trust, accuracy, and expertise

We treat wellness journalism with the same rigor as financial reporting. Every claim we make is backed by science, and every contributor is vetted for experience and integrity.

Rigorous Fact-Checking

Our editorial team fact-checks every claim against peer-reviewed studies, medical databases, and expert consensus before publication. We never publish unverified health advice.

Expert Contributors

We work exclusively with credentialed professionals—psychologists, nutritionists, ecologists, and artists. Our writers are experts in their fields, not just writers in general.

FSC-Certified Paper

Every copy of our Reading Journal is printed on 100% recycled, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper. We source from mills that prioritize responsible forestry and water conservation.

Carbon-Neutral Shipping

We calculate the carbon footprint of every package and invest in carbon-offset projects to neutralize our emissions. Our logistics partners use electric delivery vehicles where possible.

Low-Energy Infrastructure

Our servers are hosted on green energy providers, and our digital infrastructure is optimized to use minimal power. We design our site to load instantly, reducing energy consumption on your end.

Plastic-Free Packaging

We have eliminated single-use plastics from our shipping boxes. Our inserts are made from biodegradable plant starch, and we use soy-based inks.
